The Dubai Council has announced plans to roll out new development projects in the emirate’s countryside in an effort to transform it into tourist destinations. The initiative was broadly welcomed by property developers who strongly believe that it will pave the path for multiple opportunities in the future.
“The development of inland and countryside locations in the emirate opens up a range of new opportunities. We’re rapidly running out of new neighbourhoods in the city as most are fully built out, or on the cusp of being declared completed. Examples include the Palm Jumeirah and Downtown, for instance, where there are a very limited number of development sites available,” said the partner and head of Middle East Research, Knight Frank, Faisal Durrani.
“Dubai’s leadership is known for their futuristic and farsighted ambitions. They take on massive and futuristic projects that fit in with the culture and traditions of UAE and always seek to enhance the lifestyle of people and attract tourism and investors at the same time. They are now strengthening their efforts to transform the countryside, which is fascinating to know and will unquestionably improve the reputation of the emirate in the world market, and especially in the tourism industry,” said Yousuf Fakhruddin, the CEO of Fakhruddin Properties.
Enhanced infrastructural facilities in the rural areas will help unlock the regions’ potential, retain the local population, and entice more people and businesses, experts say. It is also perceived as an important step towards a more diversified economy, which will stimulate job creation.
The Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Mizhar and Hatta areas will become the first to implement the development projects. Further plans will be announced within the next few months.
