UAE simplifies entry, residence regulations

“The new system of entry and residence aims at attracting and retaining global talents and skilled workers from all over the world, and boosting the competitiveness and flexibility of the job market,” the UAE Cabinet statement says.

Golden residence. Amendments provide for significant changes to the rules. Importantly, golden residence holders will now be allowed to sponsor their family members to join them in the UAE. The restriction on the maximum duration of stay outside the UAE has also been lifted.
To qualify for the Golden Visa, investors need to purchase a property in the UAE with a minimum value of AED2 million ($544,500).
Green residence. This program offers a 5-year residency to freelance workers and self-employed individuals. No sponsorship or employment requirements are in place. Investors setting up or having a share in business ventures are also eligible for a 5-year residence permit. The Green Visa aims to replace the previous residence that was valid for only 2 years.  
New residence types. This 5-year residence visa was introduced to entice talents, skilled professionals, freelance workers, investors, and private entrepreneurs.
New entry visas. These new types of visa do not require a host or sponsor. You may apply for a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. The visas are issued for 60 days and can be extended for a further 60 days.
Job exploration entry visa. Sponsorship or employment in the UAE is not required. To be eligible for this type of visa, applicants must be classified in the first, second or third skill level as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and have a minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Business entry visa.  Aimed at encouraging investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE, this type of visa does not require a sponsor or host.  
Tourist visa. This is a multi-entry visa valid for 5 years. It has no sponsorship requirement but the applicant must submit proof of funds — a bank statement showing a balance of at least $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies.
